Thanksgiving

Church Family

Several places throughout the Old Testament (Psalms 106, 107, 118, 1 Chronicles 16, etc..) have the refrain, “Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever.”
I found myself this morning repeating this verse over and over again. I realized the more I rehearsed it, the more real this truth became to me. God is good and His love (that is unmovable and unshakeable) lasts forever. There are days that we readily see His goodness and there are days that we are distracted from His goodness. Nevertheless, His goodness is always there, whether we see it or not. His love is always steadfast, whether we feel it or not. Did you know that the sun is always shining, even on a cloudy day? The clouds may block its’ view or even its’ warmth, but above the clouds, it is shining as bright as ever. The same is true about the goodness and love of God.
This past Sunday, we sang the song entitled, Waymaker. The song says, “Even when we don’t see that He’s working, even when we don’t feel like He’s working. He never stops, He never stops working.” I just want to encourage you today, God is always working and God is always good. Our situations don’t change the fact that He is always good and His love is always steadfast. In times of change and chaos, anchor to His goodness and His love. In times of uncertainty and unrest, embrace the never changing, always present, goodness and love of God. As you allow the goodness and love of God to wash over you today, worship Him by GIVING HIM THANKS!
We are praising God for bringing Charlie and Mary Knight to us as church family. The vote was unanimous. It is a sign of unity within our church when we call someone with a unanimous vote. On behalf of our search team, I want to thank you for the vital, life-giving prayers and encouragement as we sought the Lord to direct our path. God answered your prayers with unity, clarity, and wisdom. The church budget also passed with a unanimous vote. It is encouraging to see our church move forward with intentional steps to impact the Kingdom of God. Your faithfulness and obedience in giving to the Lord has helped us come to this new chapter as a church family. God’s goodness is evident and His love is extravagant.
We gather this Sunday to express our Thanksgiving to God and to celebrate around the Lord’s Supper. As you prepare, ask God to examine your heart. Bring any unconfessed sin before the God who is “faithful to forgive our sin and cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9).
Counting my church family as a blessing from God!
