Church Family

Over the next few weeks, I’m excited to share with you the story of the Prodigal Son (Luke 15). Let me give you a synopsis. The story is about a young son who took his inheritance and fled to far land. He squandered his money and fulfilled his pleasures. When he came to his senses, he humbly came back home and was received by a gracious father, who welcomed him with a party. There was also an older brother who did not appreciate his brother’s actions and was disgusted by the gracious reception of the father. The older brother was invited to the Lost and Found party, but he refused to celebrate his brother’s return.
I believe we will all find ourselves within the story of the prodigal son. It has become so familiar, we are tempted to skip right past the divine truths that have the potential to change our lives. So, get prayed up and ready to approach this text with new eyes and fresh hearts. Read the whole context of Luke 15, and we will dive in together this Sunday morning at 10:45 am. Come early and get plugged into one of our Life Groups. They start at 9:30—our Life Groups are life blood to our church family. They offer community and accountability in living Christ-centered lives.
This past Sunday, Evans Okeyo quoted the verse from Habakkuk 2:14. Since we just finished the book of Habakkuk, it should be fresh on our minds.
“For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.”
In the middle of a passage announcing judgments (woes) upon the nation of Babylon, God’s purpose comes shouting to us, like a megaphone. To display God’s power is the display of His purpose. His purpose is to fill the earth with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord. We have the opportunity to spread the love of God and the Word of God to the nations. It starts with us being faithful, right here at home. As C.T. Studd once said, “The light that shines farthest, shines the brightest at home.” Keep your light for Jesus shining bright! Let your church family help you stay encouraged, as you shine for His glory!
See you on Sunday for LOST & FOUND,

Pastor Todd
